Remember
© 2005 Christie Aitken

I remember back a spell
I dropped my penny in a wishing well
Afternoons could last forever
Days ended never
Way back long ago
Ice cream cones and bubble gum
Eagles on the radio
Sitting in the warm summer sun

The time going by, it was smooth like molasses
Sweet like apple pie, long how it lasted
When did the music stop, why did my bubble pop,
Who sped up that second-hand, took away my Neverland?

Here I stand
The world is spinning and I'm holding on
Can I find my dreams before it's all gone,
Will I finally get what it's all about?
Here I am
Looking up wishing I could see
Hoping it will all make sense to me
Before the sand in the glass runs out

Now the time going by, it's quick like lightning
Hard like the falling rain, ain't it frightening
I can't slow it down but I can turn the music on
And listen to the sound of an old familiar song

I remember what it used to be like
Rain came down and I didn't cry
Now I'm gazing on a far off star
Knowing the way things are

The time going by, it was smooth like molasses
Sweet like apple pie, long how it lasted
When did the music stop, why did my bubble pop,
Who sped up that second-hand, took away my Never
Now the time going by, it's quick like lightning
Hard like the falling rain, ain't it frightening
I can't slow it down but I can turn the music on
And listen to the sound of an old familiar song

I remember when.
