Growing up in a musical family steeped in folk and bluegrass in the Northwest, Christie Aitken began singing and playing musical instruments at age four.  She says her lifelong love of music blossomed several years ago when she began writing her own songs.  Her pop-folk style has drawn comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon.

Christie sings and plays acoustic guitar and is backed by local artists on her debut CD, Road to Sunnyside.  She says her songs take elements from a range of styles, “from organic pop-rock to laid-back jazz to modern folk.”  On her song “Remember”, which was featured recently on NPR’s online “Open Mic” podcast, bassist Jason Lackie, drummer Scott Mercado and slide guitarist Karl Haug accompany Aitken.

Performing at venues around the Seattle area, Aitken says she “constantly strives to find that magical combination of words, music and feeling.”
